Also a taste test.
With the holidays and some poor car purchasing decisions, I and my Hubz are on a budget. Today we decided to try Gardein Porkless Bites and make it a delicious meal. First off…I have to say this smells, tastes, and has the texture of meat. If you are a vegan who does not want mock meat…this is totally not for you.
What you need when you are broke af:
-1 package of gardein sweet and sour porkless bites ($3.98)
-1 package of frozen veggies from the Dollar Tree ($1)
-1 cup of jasmine rice (an entire 2lb bag is $2.62)
-2 cups of water for the rice (I’m not doing the math on that)
-2tbsp sesame seed oil (I’m gonna guess $1)
-1 green onion sliced ($.46)
-sprinkle of sesame seeds (optional…and stop making me do math!!!)
Start by getting your rice started as it will take the longest, I of course used my Instant Pot.
Yes….the sauce is awesome in case you wanted to know.
Take the 2 tbsp. of sesame seed oil (or olive oil if that’s what you got) and get the pan to medium heat and pop these babies in. Move them around about once a minute and cook for 6-8 minutes.
While that’s cooking get a small sauce pan on medium-low heat and put the “awesome sauce” in there to slight simmer.
Add your frozen veggies to the pork and get them up to temperature!
Combine everything in a bowl and add your green onion and sesame seeds! Super delicious and per person was less than $5….think about this recipe when the credit card payments come up in January. You’re welcome:)
