A beauty recipe from your kitchen.
Finding a vegan toothpaste isn’t especially easy. I tried Tom’s Toothpaste and would have preferred cavities over it (it was that gross to me). Hubz has already been brushing with coconut oil for over a year. Surprisingly it helps him have better breath than regular toothpaste, and trust me his morning breath is f*cking fierce. So I used my brain and added that items we’ve already heard or seen advertised to be healthy for teeth. I’ll give you the recipe I’ve been using and loving and the benefits of the ingredients as well. This recipe I do once a week and clean out my jar each time, takes less than 5 minutes.
What you need to feel super clean:
-2 tbsp. coconut oil
-1 tsp baking soda
-1 tsp activated charcoal
-2 tsp peppermint extract
Start by adding the coconut oil and peppermint extract.
Why coconut oil? Well it has antibacterial properties which will actually help kill the bacteria that creates cavities. It also serves as an excellent base for the other ingredients.
The peppermint extract has much better flavor than synthetic toothpaste flavors.
Why activated charcoal? It helps whiten teeth and also absorb some of the bacterial laying on the enamel. There have been a lot of adds showing this but I wouldn’t recommend brushing with just straight charcoal as it is abrasive. Your teeth want to be polished, your gums want to be messaged, treat them both as such.
The baking soda also helps fight bacteria and help whiten.
I’ve been doing this for a few weeks and I love it, hope you guys give it a try!
